These weird face drawings, ranging from the interesting to the awful, were designed as a response to the word 'grotesque'. This was also just about when I began getting interested in the idea of individual characters being created in drawings (obviously a very big part of animation, and also to be found here and there in a lot of illustration, but less prominent in art, in which the technique more often describes the artist than the subject). There were fifty of these - I'm not sure where the last one is, but I'm sure it will turn up somewhere. You're not losing an awful lot of the final effect without it.

A quick introduction...

I'm currently studying fine art at the University of Leeds, and in my spare time am helping to create one or two short films and games. My main interests, and the subjects of this blog, will be art, animation, illustration and films. You'll hopefully be able to see some of my own art; there'll also be a little bit of commentary here and there.
